Celebratory drums, lion dances, massive crowds and a flood of purchase orders—on February 28th (the 12th day of the Lunar New Year), after the Chinese New Year holiday period, over 80,000 booths in the Yiwu International Trade Market reopened to the world.

At 08:00 sharp, nine major sections—including the Global Digital Trade Center, Districts 1–5 of the International Trade Market, the **International Production Materials Market, Huangyuan Garment Market, and the Binwang 158 Cultural & Creative Park—officially resumed operations. Tens of thousands of merchants opened their doors as buyers from around the world crowded into the market.

During the holiday closure, many Yiwu suppliers were far from idle. Existing clients continued placing urgent order requests, and online inquiries flowed nonstop. Many merchants had already secured full production schedules for the first month of the new year even before reopening.
On opening day, the moment the shutters rolled up, suppliers were immediately hit with a surge of foot traffic and purchase orders. Merchants were simultaneously receiving customers onsite while coordinating with factories for production scheduling, creating a dynamic scene filled with both intensity and optimism.

From “holiday-order accumulation” to “opening-day order explosions,” the world’s capital of small commodities has kicked off the new year with a full-speed sprint into global business.
Surging Buyer Traffic Sets a New Record on Opening Day
According to passenger-flow statistics from the ‘Yiwu International Trade City’, the Yiwu market recorded its highest-ever offline footfall for a Lunar New Year reopening day, setting a new year-over-year benchmark.
Inside the ‘Yiwu International Trade City’, foreign buyers maneuvered carts through the aisles, while purchasing agents carrying product samples stopped frequently to request quotations. The soundscape was filled with bargaining, order placement, packing, and outbound-shipment preparations—an unmistakably vibrant start to the trading year.
At District 1 of the Yiwu International Trade Market, a buyer from Dubai —known locally as “Dong Ge”—arrived early to wait at a familiar supplier’s storefront :
“I’ve been doing business in Yiwu for eight years. This year I arrived a week ahead of time specifically to secure orders. I plan to sign contracts for 30 containers, all destined for various Middle Eastern countries today.”

And Dong Ge is far from alone. Buyer delegations from Southeast Asia
focused on hardware tools; purchasing teams from Europe concentrated on cultural-creative and trendy products; while buyers from Africa showed strong interest in household goods.
The convergence of buyers from across five continents pushed the Yiwu market’s popularity to full capacity from the very first day of reopening.

Online Livestream Viewership Exceeds 3.879 Million
While offline traffic surged, online engagement was equally dynamic. The official digital trading platform ‘Chinagoods’ broadcasted the entire opening ceremony in real time. The livestream showcased bustling storefronts and continuous buyer–supplier negotiations, projecting the vibrant commercial atmosphere of the “World’s Supermarket” to audiences worldwide.

On opening day, cumulative livestream viewership exceeded 3.879 million across multiple platforms, including Chinagoods, the CCTV Video app, Zhejiang Television’s Vision app, Tide News, Yiwu TV and others.
In the livestream chatroom, a “red packet rain” event unfolded as promised—millions of yuan in digital red envelopes and exclusive gift bundles were distributed. Municipal leaders interacted with global buyers through the livestream, repeatedly sending greetings such as “Wishing you a prosperous opening! Sending red packets now!”, bringing the online atmosphere to its peak.

Beyond the livestream, buyers could directly access the Chinagoods platform to complete the entire procurement cycle—product selection, quotation requests, and order placement—through fully digitalized workflows, truly realizing the concept of “buy globally without leaving home.”
Chinagoods Releases Over 30,000 New SKUs on Opening Day
On the first day of market reopening, the Chinagoods platform experienced a major surge in new product releases. Merchants, having spent the Lunar New Year holiday period reorganizing stock and refining product designs, showcased new samples immediately upon reopening, uploading product images in batches. More than 30,000 new SPUs were added to the platform in a single day.

From Year of the Dragon cultural & creative merchandise, to fashion accessories, smart-home devices, and general daily-use commodities, the extensive range of new items drew global buyers to conduct online price comparisons and place bulk purchase orders.

The World Yiwu AI Large Model recorded a new wave of usage spikes across its 14 functional modules, including AI-driven product design, AI content generation, and AI-powered independent-site traffic capture—showing a steep rise in data utilization.

Since the Spring Festival Gala aired, foreign clients have been contacting me every day requesting the same accessories shown on TV. The moment we reopened today, I received more than a dozen orders right away,” said Zhu Sufang, an accessories vendor at the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center. She noted that many of her newly launched products were instantly pre-ordered and that the platform’s digital service tools have doubled her order-processing efficiency.

The rapid product-iteration cycle in the Yiwu market has become a key competitive advantage, drawing buyers from around the world with its unmatched speed and flexibility.
Merchants See Explosive Orders as Creative Products Gain Strong Market Traction
From the moment the market reopened, orders poured in nonstop—creating an immediate “hot start” that lit up the faces of merchants across the Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center.
Wu Liang, a trendy toy merchant, secured over RMB 1 million in orders in a single day:
“During the Chinese New Year holiday, long-term clients kept pushing for updates. Once we reopened this morning, the orders just wouldn’t stop. My phone hasn’t been quiet for a second. Roughly calculating, we’ve already exceeded one million. The post–Spring Festival Gala consumption effect is really strong!”

Next door, supplier Luo Tianle was equally overwhelmed with demand:
“I received orders for three full containers today. The inventory I prepared before the holiday won’t last more than a few days. I’ll need to coordinate with factories this afternoon to expand production immediately.”

Zhang Huoqing, the creator of the viral “Crying Pony” series, debuted her new Year of the Dragon collection and enjoyed exceptional results:
“The ‘Crying Pony’ blew up at the start of the year. After the festival, we launched new variants while the trend was still hot. On opening day alone, we sold 30,000 units! With the new year arriving, I wish everyone prosperity—just like this energetic little pony!”

Gu Huijie, specializing in outfits for Labubu collectible dolls, also saw an impressive opening-day surge:
“The moment we uploaded the ‘New Year outfits’ for the dolls, they were snapped up immediately. I’ve already received more than 20 orders today. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had a sip of water, but I’m absolutely thrilled!”
With trade as the support, we will boldly forge a new beginning for “the global supply base”
From the free shuttle buses at the high-speed railway station to the 500 global volunteers who accompany you in exploring the market, Yiwu not only connects the world with its goods, but also retains people’s hearts with its warmth. It is this “sincere care” that enables new merchants who step into the International Trade City for the first time to no longer get lost, and allows old friends who come from afar to feel the warmth of returning home.

This temperature is precisely the most vivid illustration of how Yiwu has moved from a “street market” to a “world supermarket”. From the 4.3107 million tourists and cultural tourists during the Spring Festival, to the new high in visitor numbers on the opening day and 3.879 million online merchants, Yiwu, behind the spotlight of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, has witnessed another wave of commercial prosperity.

The Spring Festival Gala stage showcased the scenery and vitality of Yiwu to the world, while the opening ceremony brought about a new round of boom in the “business opportunities hidden beneath the stage”.
The year 2026 marks the beginning of the “15th Five-Year Plan”. Yiwu not only becomes the source of vitality for promoting domestic consumption, but also, with an open and inclusive attitude, becomes an important supply base for global economic prosperity.
Ten thousand horses galloping towards a new beginning. Yiwu leads the way in development experience. The world’s small commodity capital is flying on the wings of digital trade and is steadily moving towards a higher-level “global supply base”.
